Roof Conversions - Asbestos / Flat to Pitched / Corrugated / Plastic
Asbestos
Asbestos roof sheets are made from a mixture of 10% asbestos fibres and 90% cement. Asbestos fibres provide strength and flexibility to cement sheets whilst allowing a thinner and more lightweight sheet to be made. This method of manufacture, using mainly chrysotile type asbestos continued until the early 1980's when the dangers of asbestos to health were recognised. Asbestos was therefore replaced with non-asbestos products.
Incorrect maintenance, cleaning or preparation of asbestos based products can lead to asbestos fibres being released into the atmosphere. When dealing with asbestos there is a requirement to provide safe removal and treatment of asbestos aement based roofing products. Roofix Services Ltd are experienced in working with asbestos based roofing products, covering: maintenance, repair and complete conversion.
Flat to Pitch

Corrugated / Plastic
Add-on rooms, garages and workshops often have original corrugated or plastic roofs, mainly for cost purposes, these unfortunately have a limited lifespan and there is a general requirement to convert these roofs into something more robust and substantial with a longer life-cycle.
